Description
This is my latest from a series which I started years ago. I couldn't believe I started this in 2011 but it does not even resemble anything as you see it now. I wasn't happy with it so it just sat there marinating. Here & there I would pick it up & start all over again because I'm persistent to a fault.
This actually is me in my garden in Colorado. From CO, she traveled into some unremarkable field then seemed to settle in an English rose garden, however, that became a bit too thorny for her. She now resides happily and permanently in Provence.
There were so many hideous versions & I often considered trashing it. It haunted me & I couldn't let it go so now she is "The Lavender Lady of Provence"

Congratulations on the recognition of your painting in the contest. It was so good you didn't give up on it or trash it. Your time to reflect on changes obviously paid off. The colors are beautiful and it gives the viewer (or at least me) a sense of serenity. It's always great when a painting elicits a mood!

Colleen, I enjoyed reading your description of this absolutely lovely painting. I understand totally about starting something and letting it 'marinate' for weeks, months even years. Well, I'm happy that you didn't give up on this and I'm sure The Lavender Lady had some not only frustrating but interesting adventures over the years. Persistence is a must have quality for a true artist! L/V
